I’m a huge fan of RMS Beauty. I love their Buriti cream bronzer, Living Luminizer was my favorite cream highlighter until I discovered Tata Harper’s Very Illuminating, and their “Un” Cover-Up is a really solid multi-tasker. Besides those three products, I think RMS is most known for their Lip2Cheek products which I meant to try earlier but never got around to doing. However, when I saw they had discontinued Curious ($36), the one Lip2Cheek shade that interested me, I knew I had to hunt it down and try it before it completely disappeared forever.
I finally got around to trying BECCA’s much hyped Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone. I’ve tried the darker Opal shade in the past but wasn’t overly impressed because it was very similar to Pixi’s Flawless Beauty Primer which I already owned at the time.
I’ve moved onto other highlighters since then. My current favorite and only remaining highlighter in my stash after The Great Makeup Purge of 2015 is RMS’ Living Luminizer.
As luck would have it, I received a BECCA Opal sample in a recent Ulta order. It’s been awhile since I’ve used a Shimmering Skin Perfector and tastes change and memories fade/distort over time, so I was interested to see how Moonstone and Opal would compare to the RMS highlighter. I figured it would be a good idea to swatch all three highlighters together.
RMS’ Buriti Bronzer has been on my wish list for almost a year. YouTubers sing its praises all the time. Off the top of my head I recall Teri Miyahira, Brianna Stanko and Flowerbomb31 all raving about how wonderful it is.
I’m not really a bronzer type of girl — I’m much more into blush and highlighter — so even though I’ve been impressed with all of the RMS products I’ve tried previously, $28 for a single bronzer still seemed rather steep. That’s mainly why I never followed through with a purchase even though I’ve put Buriti into my shopping cart countless times.
Well, I finally, finally, decided to bite the bullet and I couldn’t be happier. It’s just as great as everyone says. New favorite bronzer and possibly a holy grail! That’s how much I love it.
Cutting down my bronzer collection turned out to be really easy but reducing my highlighters proved to be a bit more challenging.
It’s been nearly a year since the last time I swatched my higlighter collection and a lot’s changed. Surprisingly the only one that I’ve kept since then is Stila’s All Over Shimmer Duo (travel size). I really do like it, especially that pink half. The powder’s very soft but nicely pigmented. The level of shimmer and glow falls somewhere between Kevyn Aucoin’s Candlelight which is very sutble and the super frosty theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer, though probably a bit closer to Mary-Lou than the former.
