Wet n Wild MegaCushion Foundation SPF 15 (Light Ivory) Swatches

Wet n Wild MegaCushion Foundation SPF 15 (Light Ivory)

While I was still mulling over which shade, if any, of the Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundations I’d keep, I decided to give Wet n Wild’s new MegaCushion Foundation SPF15 ($8.99) a try. I normally would’ve passed on it because all of the Wet n Wild foundations and concealers I’ve tried before seem better suited for oilier skin types and have either run very pink or very dark. However, CVS was running an ExtraBucks promotion on Wet n Wild and I noticed a $1 off coupon on the display.

There are 8 shades in the MegaCushion Foundation range. I usually go with the second or third lightest shade in most drugstore foundations but based on past experience I know that Wet n Wild base products tend to run dark so I went with the lightest shade, Light Ivory.

As you know, I was very pleasantly surprised by the new Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation. Great packaging, nice shade range, and a lovely medium coverage. My main gripe was I couldn’t find a good enough shade match. I was torn between two shades: LW2 which was the right shade depth but too pink and LN3 which was not as pink but too dark.

Along came the Wet n Wild MegaCushion Foundation in Light Ivory which I think suits me better than either of the Physicians Formula shades. The undertone appears to be a much better fit and, although still not a perfect shade match, it’s definitely something I can work with. I may go back to the store and get the next darkest shade, Cream Ivory, to try.

First impressions: the Wet n Wild foundation is thinner and more lightweight with what appears to be a buildable light to medium coverage and a satin finish. Sadly, it’s also highly fragranced. I would describe the scent as a generic, youthful floral. It reminds me of all the perfumes I usually smell in beauty magazines, like a mix of Clinique Happy, Marc Jacobs fragrances and a bunch of other similar perfumes combined.

Based on swatches, I’m going to hang onto the Wet n Wild foundation and pass on both Physicians Formula foundations. Expect to see both bottles join my blog sale soon.
