I actually purchased these way back in Novemeber during my self-imposed blog hiatus but I have to share it because the majority of the items I bought are awesome.
Trader Joe’s Puff Pastry is a seasonal item that I believe they only carry during the holiday season, so whenever I see it I stock up. I purchased 5 boxes ($3.99 each) on my first TJ run but I went back to the store a week later and got another 5 boxes. I keep them in my freezer and whenever I’m feeling creative I thaw one out. Unlike Pepperidge Farm or other brands of puff pastry at major supermarkets which are made from vegetable oil/shortening, Trader Joe’s Puff Pastry is made from butter and the product is imported from France. Each box contains 2 sheet of puff pastry dough. If you’re lucky enough to spot this in stores, stock up because it’s totally worth it. The flavor and flakiness of the dough is great and it sure beats making your own puff pastry. I personally love puff pastry for the taste and texture and because it instantly makes any dish look fancier and more luxurious.
I also grabbed a bag of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips ($1.99) because a recipe I was making required it. These are fab too! I had half a bag of Nestle Toll House chocolate chips at home to compare with it and the Trader Joe’s version taste so much more chocolate-y. I let my mom blind taste the two chips and she agreed the TJ’s chocolate has a better flavor.
Lastly, I bought a jar of their Blueberry Acai Facial Scrub ($5.99) which I plan on reviewing.
