I long for the days when Target Beauty Boxes were free. The insanity that ensued because the boxes were first come, first served and limited in quantity. And that strange sense of accomplishment and satisfaction if you managed to be one of the lucky few to score a box. Ah, memories.
The Beauty Boxes are still hard to come by and when they release a new one you really need to jump on it but, alas, Target now charges for them.
I skipped the last one because it contained mostly hair products and a razor — stuff I already have enough of and didn’t need — but this year’s box really piqued my interest. Yes, there’s still hair stuff that doesn’t really interest me (I’ll pass them along to my sis) but I’ve been rather curious about the mascara and gloss. The price sealed the deal for me. It was $5 for the whole box of products and free shipping if you have a Target Red Card (I do!). The gloss and mascara are both full size. The gloss retails for $5 while the mascara usually goes for $8-$9, so it’s as if I paid for the gloss and got a bunch of extras for free!
The items included in this year’s Beauty Box are:
- TONI&GUY Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray (2.5 fl oz)
- L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara (.22 fl oz)
- Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo (1.7 oz)
- COVERGIRL Smoochies Sizzle Gloss (.44 fl oz)
- Jergens BB Cream Light (2 fl oz)
It’s been awhile since I’ve used any CoverGirl glosses but I remember liking their older Wetslicks glosses that came with a doefoot applicator so I’m looking forward to trying the newer Smoochies lip gloss.
And I think lisalisad1 recently raved about the Jergens BB body cream so that’s another product that I can’t wait to try.
I also picked up a few of the new Spring fragrances from Victoria’s Secret: a Glamour Eau de Parfum and two Pink Vacay fragrance mists.
Pink Vacay reminds me a lot of Bath & Body Works’ Warm Vanilla Sugar except sweeter and it doesn’t have that dreaded burned plastic note that WVS has. Although I don’t believe it’s listed as one of the notes, I swear I can detect some coconut too. Gourmand lovers should dig this.
Glamour isn’t usually the type of scent I go for — it’s a floral fruity scent — but I kind of liked it and the bottle was too cute to resist. It has one of those old school looking atomizers which I think will look fantastic set out on my vanity.
