Bottom Row: Ibiza, Laguna, Los Cabos, The Big Easy

As you can probably tell, I’ve been on a huge Cargo blush kick lately. It started with Catalina and before I knew it I had nine Cargo blushes. That’s how much I love them!

My Cargo Blush Collection

Top Row: Amalfi, Bali, Cannes, Catalina, Gotham
Bottom Row: Ibiza, Laguna, Los Cabos, The Big Easy

Amalfi, Bali, Cannes

  • Amalfi is a shimmery bubblegum pink. The silver shimmer is obvious in the pan and when swatched but it doesn’t really show up on my face.
  • Bali is a light rosy pink with a subtle blue satin sheen.
  • Cannes is a matte, light peach.

Catalina, Gotham, Ibiza

  • Catalina is a matte cotton candy pink.
  • Gotham is a light rosy pink with a blue iridescence. Like Bali the bluish sheen of Gotham is extremely subtle and isn’t very noticeable unless heavily swatched and if the light catches it just right. Applied to the cheeks it doesn’t really come across as a blue sheen but simply a regular satin sheen.
  • Ibiza is a shimmery hot pink.

Laguna, Los Cabos, The Big Easy

  • Laguna is a matte, bright reddened orange.
  • Los Cabos is a soft tangerine with a satin finish.
  • The Big Easy is a peachy pink with subtle shimmer.

Clockwise from top left: Cargo Amalfi, Cargo Ibiza, theBalm Argyle

Amalfi, Ibiza

Amalfi, Ibiza

Amalfi and Ibiza are quite similar but swatched the former is a lighter pink with lot of silver sparkle while the latter is a deeper pink with a subtler shimmer that comes across as a satin finish on me. These two colors look practically identical on my face.

Note: Amalfi is one of Cargo’s traditional powder blushes whereas Ibiza is from their new Swimmables Water-Resistant Blush collection. I haven’t tested out the water-resistant claims but other than that I don’t notice these two blush formulas performing any differently on my very dry skin. All blushes last on my skin so the wear-time of Amalfi and Ibiza on me is the same and they’re equally pigmented.

Cargo Amalfi, Cargo Ibiza, theBalm Argyle

I initially thought theBalm’s Argyle would be similar to Ibiza and Amalfi but they’re not even close. Argyle’s darker, warmer and much more saturated in color. Argyle is extremely pigmented.

Bali, Gotham

Cargo Bali, Cargo Gotham

Bali and Gotham are another two blushes that look crazy similar. Gotham shows up a touch warmer and peachier on my skin when swatched but virtually identical to Bali when worn on the cheeks normally.

Bali is another blush from the Swimmables blush line while Gotham, sadly discontinued, is from the traditional blush line. I was lucky enough to receive Gotham as a gift with purchase from Macy’s a couple of months ago.

There’s a third blush in the Swimmables collection and I bet there’s a dupe for that among Cargo’s regular blushes too. I suspect the reason for the dupes is that Cargo’s going to phase out the old formula in favor of the Swimmables water-resistant formula. Just a guess.

Cargo Bali, Cargo Gotham

I can’t believe I waited so long to jump on the Cargo bandwagon but hopefully I’m not too late. As much as I like the Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes I find their textures to be a bit too hard and firmly pressed in the pan. Compared to the Amazonian Clay blushes, Cargo’s blushes feel softer and silkier. And as much as I love theBalm’s Instain blushes I find Cargo’s easier to wear. The Instain blushes are intense and highly pigmented (almost too pigmented for me) so I always need to be careful when applying them. In comparison, I can just slap on most of my Cargo blushes without worrying that I’ll look clownish. But the main reason I love Cargo blushes is because of the color selection; the available shades really fit my own personal taste.

Most of the colors that I own are probably best suited for those with lighter skin but that’s because I gravitate towards paler pinks and peaches which may not show up well, or be as flattering, on darker skin tones. I’m not saying they absolutely wouldn’t work on darker skin. Perhaps they can with a much heavier hand but Cargo does have darker blush options. Laguna, for example, would look fantastic on deeper skin tones as it’s incredibly pigmented and bright. Fairer skin could get away with it too as long as a light hand is used.
