It’s a little hard to describe a SOYJOY bar to those who’ve never tried one. The texture is a cross between a chewy cookie and a really dense, drier cake with lots of chopped, dried fruit mixed throughout. The flavor is mildly sweet allowing the dried fruit to take center stage. The ground soybean flour imparts a subtle nutty flavor to the bar.
I’m just going to say right off the bat that this was the best thing I received in my Voxbox this time around.
I’ve tried several flavors of SOYJOY bars on my own dime but never the Cranberry flavor which came in my Violet Voxbox courtesy of Influenster. The drugstores near me carry a very limited number of SOYJOY flavors — only Banana, Strawberry, and Mango Coconut — so this was my first chance trying the Cranberry and I have to say I think it’s my new favorite. Mango Coconut was my old favorite because (1) it had good fruity flavor and (2) the mildly tangy mango offered a bit of a balance to the sweetness of the cookie/cake. Cranberry, however, has even more of a tang to it which I personally prefer. If you like Craisins (dried cranberries) and don’t like super sweet snacks, then I think you’ll enjoy the Cranberry SOYJOY bar.
I’m not a health conscious person and I don’t suffer from celiac disease but people who are will be happy to learn that SOYJOY bars are gluten free and all natural. All I care about is flavor. If it tastes good, I’ll eat it; if it doesn’t taste good, I won’t.
Another reason I like these bars is they’re quite filling. One bar will easily tide me over from one meal to the next. I always like to keep a few SOYJOY bars in the glove compartment of my car and one in my purse in case of emergencies. You never know when you’ll be caught in a traffic jam or stuck in an elevator for an extended period of time.
