I’ve been on a serious Tarte kick lately and the limited edition Aqualillies eye and cheek palette has become one of my prized possessions. It was one of the final purchases I made during Sephora’s Chic Week with my Beauty Insider discount.
What they say:
Make a splash this summer with tarte and the Aqualillies! This limited-edition waterproof palette, inspired by America’s most glamorous synchronized swimming group, includes 6 new eye shadows, bronzer, highlighter, and a limited-edition Amazonian clay 12-hour blush. All show-stopping shades are tucked inside a classically elegant, mirrored compact. See below for shade descriptions.
Product Performance: Each nutrient rich formula inside this palette is infused with Amazonian clay, which is harvested from the banks of the Amazon River and naturally baked by the sun. Amazonian clay universally benefits all skin types for a fade-free, flawless finish that lasts up to 12 hours in shades ranging from soft to vivid to suit a wide variety of skin tones.
Powered By: Amazonian clay. Amazonian clay minimizes oil in and around pores to balance skin and keep product in place.
Skin-softening mineral pigments, which are known to soothe and soften skin, will help you create show-stopping looks both in and out of the pool and give you a good-for-you, gorgeous glow.
- 6 new eye shadows: hammock (chocolate brown), bikini (golden peach), barefoot (golden nude), parasol (champagne rose), sundeck (light brown). poolside (turquoise)
- bronzer (park ave princess)
- highlighter (champagne)
- a limited edition Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in captivating (warm peach)
For $38 this really is an awesome value considering that the blush in the Aqualillies palette is 0.23 oz and a full sized 0.2 oz Amazonian Clay blush alone normally costs $26. Add the bronzer, highlighter and eyeshadows and you basically have almost everything you need to create an entire look. Just slap on your favorite foundation, mascara and lipstick and you’re good to go.
If you’ve been searching for an all-in-one palette to travel with — something you can throw into your suitcase or tote bag — definitely consider the Aqualillies eye and cheek palette. The hard plastic packaging (reminiscent of theBalm and Too Faced’s packaging for their highlighters/bronzers) can handle a lot more abuse than some of those cardboard-bound palettes out there.
As for quality, all of the shadows in the Aqualillies palette have good pigmentation and texture with the exception of Poolside which goes on sheer and really needs to be layered. The matte bronzer is nicely pigmented and doesn’t appear muddy on the skin, the highlighter provides a sheer but easily buildable champagne shimmer, and the blush is simply gorgeous with a satin finish.
Overall, this is a very nice palette. The colors are mostly neutral and very wearable with the peachy coral blush and turquoise eyeshadow providing punches of color. Good quality, great value.
