Bath & Body Works Fall Festival Haul

BBW Candle Haul

Bath & Body Works held a Fall Festival event yesterday between 1 and 5 pm that coincided with a 2/$20 14.5 oz candle sale. Of course I indulged. Haha.

I went into the store with a list of candles that I was interested in sniffing and quickly narrowed down my list from 15 to about five, and then further whittled that down to my favorite three of the bunch. I really only went to the sale to get the free gift with purchase, a 4 oz Pumpkin Carving candle which is supposedly the much coveted Pumpkin Patch candle renamed. I’ve never smelled Pumpkin Patch but I wanted to see what the hype was about.

I’m a fan of bakery and foody scents so I wound up with Cafe Au Lait, French Baguette and Pumpkin Caramel Latte. I may go back and get Cider Lane but it doesn’t smell super unique which is the only reason I only bought three candles instead of more. I really like it though and if it shows up at the semi-annual sale at the end of the year I’ll definitely grab a few.

Scent Descriptions

Cafe Au Lait: Inspired by a Parisian coffee house fave, this romantic aroma is a blend of warm caramel, brown sugar and creamy vanilla.

French Baguette: Celebrate a traditional Parisian treasure with the delicious fragrance of a crisp, golden, fresh-baked baguette!

Pumpkin Caramel Latte: Our seasonal treat is back! Scent your home with this rich blend of creamy pumpkin, spiced caramel and sweet cream and keep your treasured autumn drink all season long.

So I bought three large candles, got the free small candle, used a $10 off $30 survey coupon and paid $20 plus tax for all four candles. Pretty good deal.

But after all that money spent it turns out that I don’t care for Pumpkin Carving. It’s a spicy cinnamon and nutmeg scent and I have a really low tolerance for spicy scents. I gave it away. And now I’m second guessing my self over Pumpkin Caramel Latte and wondering if I should’ve gotten Cider Lane or another Cafe Au Lait or French Baguette instead. Cold, it smells mostly of coffee which I like but I’m worried Pumpkin Caramel Latte will be too spicy when it’s lit. I can always return it if I don’t like it but I hate getting the stink-eye from sales associates whenever I make a rare return.

After testing out lots of candles and tarts I’ve come to the conclusion that most people equate pumpkin with pumpkin pie spice. I wonder if anyone actually makes a true, non-spicy pumpkin scent. It would be interesting to come across a candle that captures the scent of carving a jack-o-lantern, something that smells like an actual fresh pumpkin in a vegetable/botanical/squashy sense that has nothing to do with cinnamon and spice.

And one last thing…AAAAHHH, I’m totally in love with Bath & Body Works’ new scent, Cashmere Glow. It’s like Twilight Woods or Secret Wonderland, my two BBW favorites, but without the berry note. It’s also similar to Forever Sunshine however without the praline and citrus notes (basically another way of saying it’s like Twilight Woods). Compared to the aforementioned BBW fragrances, Cashmere Mist is a softer scent that makes it cozier and more snuggable in my opinion. There’s supposed to be peach in the mix but to be quite honest I don’t really detect peach or any fruit. Thank goodness! I don’t care for fruity fragrances very much.

If you like warm, sweet, vanilla musk scents like Twilight Woods definitely check out Cashmere Glow.

The next time BBW has a Buy 3 Get 3 sale I’m stocking up on fragrance mists and body creams. Maybe I’ll even get a shower gel which is something I never buy from BBW but that’s how much I love the fragrance! I just hope it isn’t limited edition 😦
