I’m a creme finish nail polish girl at heart but I’ve always wanted to give matte polishes a try. However, I wasn’t willing to invest a lot of money in a matte top coat since I knew I probably wouldn’t be using it too often. Imagine my glee when I spotted a new matte top coat in the New York Color display. I was even more excited to discover that the matte top coat is part of the NYC Quick Dry line which is — as I’ve mentioned many, many times — my favorite drugstore nail polish line. In my opinion, the Quick Dry polishes have a great formula, great brush, and at $1.99 a great price.
As soon as I got home, I immediately tried the matte coat over a red and white polka dot manicure that I had for Valentine’s Day and the effect was everything I’d hoped for and expected. The NYC Matte Me Crazy top coat completely mattified my glossy manicure without any visible streaking or brush strokes. The formula is neither too thin nor too thick, and spreads easily especially with the wide, flat brush that I love.
I’m glad I waited so long to buy a drugstore matte top coat because Matte Me Crazy is a wonderful cheap thrill that delivers.
