In case you’re wondering whether or not the Southern Belle trio is worth getting if you already own the Shooting Star trio (or vice versa) since they both contain purple and turquoise, I’ve taken a few comparison photos.
Although it may not look it, the purple in the Southern Belle trio is actually slightly less pigmented than the purple in the Shooting Star trio. That’s why they end up looking pretty similar when I swatch them next to each other even though the purple in the Southern Belle trio looks darker in the pan. It’s also more matte (has less of a shimmery sheen) compared to Shooting Star’s purple.
The turquoise in the Shooting Star trio has better texture and pigmentation compared to the turquoise in the Southern Belle trio. The Southern Belle turquoise didn’t apply as smoothly for me.
The turquoise and purple in the Southern Belle trio aren’t terrible by any means; they’re just not as nice in comparison as the ones in the Shooting Star trio.
These two trios have very similar shades. It’s up to you whether they’re both worth getting or not but since they’re so cheap, why not? Personally, I prefer the texture and finish of the turquoise and purple in the Shooting Star trio but I think the center blue shade in the Southern Belle trio is lovely.
You can find this trio, as well as other L.A. Colors trios, at Dollar Tree for $1 each.
